Milton Menasco

Water Colors

During his lifetime Milton Menasco created a large body of works. He was commisioned by the owners to create portraits of such thoroughbred racing greats as Secretariat, Citation and Exterminator. The following water color paintings are but a small sample from the estate of his late wife, Mrs. Florence Menasco. The first part of this selection contains works of equestrian art and scenes from the world of American thoroughbred racing, including some preliminary studies.   The second part shows works with other themes, such as of his water colors done during the second world war with war-time themes.  These pictures were used in advertisements (another example featured at ephemeranow.com ) and were featured in such periodicals as Life magazine.
